Youth HOPE Month 2024

Youth HOPE Month, observed each November, is a national initiative led by the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) to raise awareness about the challenges faced by runaway and homeless youth. The campaign focuses on Homelessness, Outreach, Prevention, and Education (HOPE), aiming to engage communities in supporting vulnerable young individuals. Throughout the month, NRS organizes events and provides resources to educate the public and promote solutions for youth homelessness.

For more information and to get involved, visit the National Runaway Safeline’s Youth HOPE Month page.

Help Raise the Roof!

Unfortunately, in addition to the roof needing dire attention, our walkways and one of our building staircases desperately need to be repaired and upgraded. We have a very large goal with cost estimated to be around $100,000 to complete the work. This will be a huge financial undertaking and we are calling on the community for support.
Please consider giving a gift to the youth in our community by donating to our fundraiser to improve the building that provides so many services to those that need it most!

Steven Fales presents Mormon Boy, A True Story

Our friend, Steven Fales, has generously donated his time and efforts to support SafeHouse of the Desert by presenting his very successful off-Broadway play Mormon Boy!

This true story chronicles Steven’s life and his heartbreaking journey from being a devoted sixth-generation Mormon and father of two, to coming out as gay and being excommunicated from his church.

He also details his painful divorce, a long-fought battle with drugs and alcohol, a stint in prostitution and finally coming out the other side as an out and proud gay dad.

Steven will be presenting on November 17th, at 7:00pm at the Camelot Theater in Palm Springs. All proceeds from both shows will benefit SafeHouse of the Desert and its programs. Tickets can be purchased at mormonboy.com
